Coming to Omaha

Welcome to Nebraska!

For our guests outside Nebraska, our guess is that this is likely your first time visiting one of those "fly-over"states. As you make your travel arrangements, here are some things you should keep in mind.
Downtown Omaha

The Omaha Airport
Omaha's Eppley airport is conveniently located close to downtown Omaha. Although Lincoln also has an airport, keep in mind that you would then need to pay a very expensive cab fare, or rent a car to get to Omaha. Typically the Omaha flights are more affordable anyway.

Ground Transportation

If you are staying at our wedding hotel (more info on that to come in a later post), they have two airport shuttles that you can reserve. Otherwise, you can check out other ground transportation options here.
Keep in mind that if you are considering a shuttle vs. a taxi, the airport is so close to downtown the taxi may be cheaper, especially if you have more than one in your party.
You likely won't need to rent a car for the weekend. The wedding hotel is downtown, near some area attractions and a variety of restaurants and bars. We are also working on arranging a shuttle from the hotel to our wedding location, so you won't need to worry about driving. If you want to visit more of Nebraska (e.g. Wahoo, Lincoln, the local buffalo), then you'll need to rent a car.

Frontier Airlines

If you are flying from DC, we strongly recommend Frontier Airlines. They have direct flights from Reagan National (DCA) to Omaha (OMA). While connecting flights are available (and sometimes a bit cheaper), we find it takes significantly longer, as you are flying out of your way to a connecting airport, and then waiting around for your flight. As of today (Nov 11th, 2011) round trip tickets for the weekend of our wedding are about $400, but hopefully the price will go down as it gets closer.

If you and/or your significant other are planning to check bags, you may want to buy an upgraded, "Classic" rather than "Economy." Checked bags are $20, and the difference for the upgrade varies ($20-30) but it includes up to two checked bags. So keep an eye on this when deciding what to purchase. Nicole has had an instance where their premium seating, "Classic Plus" was priced the same as the other options - and that once includes free drinks as well!
