Wedding Bus Schedule

Mohan and Nicole have arrived in Nebraska and are making final wedding preparations!  We wanted to share some information with our guests about the transportation that is provided from the wedding hotel to the wedding and reception.

If you are planning on taking the bus from the Embassy Suites downtown, please arrive downstairs at 3:30 to get on board, the bus will depart at 3:45.

For the return trip, please be ready to leave the reception at 10:45 and head outside, and the bus will leave at 11:00.

We look forward to seeing you soon!

Preparations are Underway!

Wedding Programs

This weekend Nicole worked with family and friends in Virginia to create home-made wedding programs.  Many thanks to Mohan's sister, Malini, and friends of the couple:  Mary Kadzielski, Annelies Lindemans, and Greg Martin.  On day two of the program making festivities, when Nicole was ready to give up, these intrepid volunteers continued to solider on!

Wedding Favors

The wedding favors are what Mohan really got into!  He ordered everything and then somehow convinced Nicole, and his entire family, Ved, Johanne, and even Malini, that it'd be a fun activity to do together!  After multiple nights of working (which wasn't so bad given that his father, Ved, is a good cook and would make us dinner!) we shipped them in advance to Nebraska.

Mints

It's a tradition in Nicole's mother's family to always have home-made mints with the wedding cake!  Nicole's aunt Ann Engel (center - holding Nicole's favorite niece Tatum), assisted by her aunt Karen Bohac (at right) and sister Kelly Mann and mom Leona Neff (at left, respectively) and cousin Robyn Stroeh (who is taking the photo).

Indian Clothes

Both Mohan and Nicole will be wearing Indian clothes at Friday's rehearsal dinner.  They traveled with Mohan's family and some friends to New Jersey, where they stayed with friends and went to a bunch of Indian clothing stores to find the perfect outfits!  The clothes were then made for us in India and just arrived in Virginia a few days ago!

The wedding is certainly coming up soon!  We hope you are ready!

An Outdoor Wedding

Planning for Weather

We have planned an outdoor wedding, weather permitting.  For those of your unfamiliar with Nebraska's climate, for May 26th, the average high is 77, and the average low 54 (these are in Fahrenheit!)

Nebraska is also known for it's extreme weather, so in the event of rain (or worse) we'll hold our ceremony indoors on the dance floor so we won't need to change locations.

Hats are Encouraged

Nicole's cousin Chelsea, who had her own wedding right before Britain's royal couple, William & Kate, remarked on Facebook that she wished she would have had hats at her wedding.  Nicole replied that she should feel free to wear one at ours - and the news spread like wildfire amongst her family.

So that no one is left out, let this serve as a invitation to wear hats (if you so choose).  They are not required; we will welcome our hat-less guests with equal enthusiasm!  However, if you've always wanted an excuse to get a Phillp Treacy, this is your chance!

Places to Visit in Nebraska

Renting a Car?

The previous post highlighted places within walking distance of the hotel.  Although a car isn't necessary if you are just staying the weekend in Omaha, we wanted to highlight a few notable places to visit if you decide to rent a car and/or extend your visit to Nebraska!

Visit Nicole's Hometown
  • Check out the Saunders County Museum, which features Wahoo's Five Famous Sons.  In high school Nicole helped design and build the exhibits on George Beadle, a Nobel Prize winning Geneticist and C. W. Anderson, an author and illustrator.
  • Consider picking up some Wahoo Wieners or other meats form the Wahoo Locker.  You can buy them frozen in order to have them survive the trip back home.
  • For lunch, try the old-school Wigwam Cafe or the Nebraska classic Runza.  For those who aren't familiar, Runzas are a rectangular dough pocket filled with beef, seasonings, and a variety of other options (e.g. mushrooms, swiss cheese, bacon).  Runza is a Wahoo classic, and whenever Nicole and Mohan visit Nebraska, Runza needs to be on the menu at least once.
Visit Planes and Buffalo
  • Take a trip west on I-80 to visit the Omaha Zoo's Wildlife Safari Park.  Nicole and Mohan have visited here a few times on their trips to Nebraska.  It's a drive through park, but with multiple locations to park the car and hike in order to get a better view of the animals.
  • Right next to the Safari Park is the Strategic Air and Space Museum.  This museum focused on military aircraft and nuclear missiles.
  • Visit Mahoney State Park which has hiking, miniature golf, water slides and a wave pool.  This park is also right next to both the Museum and the Safari Park.

Through Away Your Money in Iowa
  • Right across the river from our hotel there are a variety of casinos.  Since our blog is sending you there, Mohan and Nicole would like to claim .14% of any winnings.  Any losses are  your own.  Your casino options include:
